Time to move onto something... softer!
I'm really excited about this post! I did something new and different today. I submitted my first design to www.spoonflower.com and ordered a 4x4" swatch of this little pattern that I created a few weeks ago. These were original hand-drawn feathers that I brought into Illustrator and my original intention for them was for something completely different. But I had stumbled across the site above a I thought I'd try my hand at creating a pattern for fabric.
I've secretly always wanted to create my own wrapping paper and fabric but I never really knew that the option to do this yourself was this easy! I thought I had to get myself into a printing business before I could start selling my own designs.
Mind you, this design here is not yet for sale. I placed an order for a swatch and I think once it goes through the process with SpoonFlower and passes the tests, then it can be made public for sale. To be honest, I would have loved to put my baby girl in something like this - but I had so many self-imposed limitations back when she was small (she's 14 now!). This year, and in all my future years, I intend to explore my creative options, experiment, and do things I never even thought were possible. So far, 2021 has been pretty good for me for taking action towards things I never thought to pursue before. I feel empowered. I feel brave... and I feel like I owe it to myself to just trust in myself, and in the process and believe that I have access to all the resources I need to make my dreams come true.
